Gold Miners ETF
The Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE Arca: GDX) is a long gold ETF that seeks to replicate the investment results of the Amex Gold Miners Index. This is achieved by investing in the shares and ADRs of the gold mining stocks that make up the index. The GDX Gold Miners ETF has large holdings in Barrick Gold, Gold Corp, and Newmont Mining among others. Some investors believe that gold stocks, particularly those of the gold miners, may offer more leverage to any increase (or decrease) to the change in the price of gold than gold bullion ETFs.
The Gold Miners ETF (GDX) is invested primarily in large cap equities with a heavy geographic concentration in Canada.
